Quills Don’t “Shoot” Out
One of the biggest myths about porcupines is that they can shoot their quills. Nope! The quills are loosely attached and detach easily if a predator gets too close. Think Velcro, not projectiles.

They're Mostly Nocturnal
Porcupine eyes are equipped with a reflective layer called the tapetum lucidum which is a reflective layer that increases the amount of light available to photoreceptor cells. This adaptation helps them see in low-light conditions.

They Talk With Their Teeth
When threatened, porcupines chatter their teeth loudly as a warning.
It’s their way of saying, “Back off, buddy,” before resorting to a quill defense. Basically, it’s the porcupine version of yelling, “Personal space?!
